METIS Outsite | Nov. 28-29, 2017

We have successfully concluded our annual off-site, aka "outsite" at the infamous Quail Lodge & Golf Course in Carmel Valley. The focus of these meetings is to allow our team to be completely immersed in a learning environment and to create a clear path for their individual goals and businesses the following year. As hard as we push our team we also build in incredible experiences and rewards throughout the excursion to ensure there's a healthy balance between work and fun.

Insurance Photography & Matterport Services for North Bay Fire Victims

This morning we noticed the efforts of Eric Overton, CEO of Inside the Address, through Matterport's blog. Eric is a Matterport service partner in the greater Houston Texas metro area, and utilized his Matterport camera to document the flood damage in an effort to help homeowners speed up insurance claims. 

METIS owns one the newest Matterport Pro2 cameras along with shelves full camera equipment. We got to thinking and wish to carry Eric's ethos here in the SF Bay Area by providing Matterport services for those with remaining structures, and insurance photography services for those who require documentation completely free of charge.

Per Matterport, here is how all invoved can benefit from a Matterport 3D-Scan:

  1. Homeowners:
    • Be sure to completely document the content inside a home. 
    • Use your Matterport scan over and over. You will be able to email the scan to multiple contractors for repair estimates

  2. Contractors:
    • Use 2D schematic floor plans for square footage and measurements
    • Explore the 3D virtual tour when you cannot physically return to the home
     

  3. Insurance adjusters:
    • Send your company the 3D virtual tour as documentation of the homeowners content for review
     

  4. Interior Designers:
    • Take measurements from the 2D floor plan or from within Matterport’s Cloud platform • • Import .obj files into 3rd party software like Sketchup 


Disclosure: There is no fee or commitment for this service. However, METIS does have limited bandwidth and will try to schedule and accommodate as many requests as possible in the shortest amount of time possible. Behind the Scenes.

One of the things we continue to do here at METIS is to improve our product. This means streamlining the process, a continuous investment into technology - both hardware and software, and most importantly hiring talent. An area we've been anxiously wanting to grow is our in-house videography. This means not just stitching together photos and passing that off as a 'video tour' but to get into story telling, A-rolls with B-rolls, sound editing and post production. The end goal is to not just have an in-house marketing department that services our clientele, but an in-house media production department.

This reel was done freehand utilizing a Sony A7R, Carl Zeiss lens, and a Rode shotgun mic. It was also above 100°F out and our CEO was clearly feeling the heat. However, we wanted to show you a bit of what goes behind the scenes and the multiple trials and errors of our process before something makes it to the production stage and to where we're comfortable offering it to our clientele.

Yes, the rumors are true. We have launched METIS Los Angeles! Thanks to the internet and vast array of transportation options the world becomes increasingly smaller. The number of people commuting between Greater Los Angeles and Greater San Francisco has been steadily increasing year over year. In addition, Silicon Beach has taken an identity all its own. With cornerstone technology anchors such as Google's future campus in Playa Vista, Facebook, Yahoo, Snap Inc, Tiger Text, TrueCar, Dollar Shave Club, and the start up corridor in Santa Monica - the synergy between the Greater San Francisco Bay Area and Silicon Beach is undeniable. 

Leading METIS Los Angeles is Luis Rhee, a veteran of real estate in Los Angeles.  A graduate of USC and residing in the city for the past two decades, he brings the local expertise to METIS that will serve even the most discerning clients beyond expectations.  Prior to real estate, Luis was a Sr. Partner and top producer at a prominent Technology talent firm. One afternoon while surveying the Los Angeles basin from Griffith Observatory, Luis had an epiphany and shifted his focus to real estate.

Outside of real estate, Luis and his family reside in the Los Feliz / Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles. His passions include traveling, food, wine, and surfing. You'll often catch Luis surfing the breaks of Manhattan Beach, checking out the newest restaurants in the city or cheering for this his Trojans at USC football games.
